Covering all the areas of managing and leading in the energy and minerals sectors, this practical business course equips participants with the skills to advance their business careers in resources and reach decision-making roles in their chosen sector.

The Graduate Certificate of Minerals and Energy Management is designed for graduates from both business and technical backgrounds and also for experienced professionals who did not undertake an undergraduate degree and wish to learn how the minerals and energy sectors do business.

Candidates are typically already working in minerals and energy but may have not been exposed to formal learning in business disciplines relevant to undertaking leading roles in the sector such as strategic management, minerals and energy markets and mineral finance.

Entry requirements

Academic requirements

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have one of the following:

  • A bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA, the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 50 per cent and at least two years of professional experience in a relevant occupation.
  • Significant work experience including at least five years with a material level of responsibility.

English language requirements

English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the university to be eligible for a place.

  • Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.
