What you will study

Students are required to complete 96 credit points, comprising:

Engineering Management (48 credit points)

  • Professional Engineering stream (24 credit points)
  • Engineering Management, including a graduate project (24 credit points)

The graduate project component consists of a preparatory subject and a project (in engineering management), which must be undertaken in successive sessions, typically the final two sessions of the course.

Business Administration (48 credit points)

  • MBA core (36 credit points)
  • Electives (12 credit points)

In order to receive the two qualifications within two years, students are required to remain enrolled in the course for the entire two years of full-time study.

Master of Engineering Management

Professional engineering stream

Complete all of the following subjects:

  • Judgment and Decision Making
  • Managing Projects
  • Risk Management in Engineering
  • Systems Engineering for Managers

Core - engineering management

Select 12 credit points from the following subjects:

  • Advanced Project Management
  • Quality Planning and Analysis
  • Road Engineering Practice
  • Value Chain Engineering Systems

Then complete all of the following subjects:

  • Engineering Project Preparation
  • Engineering Graduate Project

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have one of the following qualifications in Engineering or Information Technology:

  • Completed an Australian master’s or doctoral degree or overseas equivalent.
  • Completed an Australian graduate diploma, or overseas equivalent, with more than 75% of all subjects completed at pass level (conceded pass not included).
  • Completed an Australian graduate certificate, or overseas equivalent, with a minimum GPA of 5/7 and more than 75% of all subjects completed at pass level (conceded pass not included).
  • Completed an Australian bachelor's degree, or overseas equivalent, with a minimum GPA of 5/7 and more than 90% of all subjects completed at pass level (conceded pass not included).
  • Completed an Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent AND a minimum of four years full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant professional experience OR a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) with an overall minimum score of 550. If completed pre-Feb 2024, the GMAT Exam (includes AWA) with an overall minimum score of 550 with verbal 25, quantitative 35 and AWA 4.0.

Supporting documentation to be submitted with the application

For applicants who need to demonstrate work experience, you must submit a Curriculum Vitae AND Statement of service in one of the following formats:

  • A 'Statement of Service' is provided by the employer.
  • A completed 'UTS statement of service’ signed by the employer.
  • A statutory declaration confirming work experience (for Australian Residents only).
  • An official letter from the applicant’s accountant or solicitor on their company letterhead confirming the applicant’s work experience or engagement with the business, duration of operations and the nature of the business.
  • A business certificate of registration in the original language and English (e.g. provision of ASIC documentation or ABN or similar documentation for Australian Businesses).

The substitution of core subjects with an alternative/advanced postgraduate subject in a similar field of study may be granted.
