What you will study

The Master of Business Administration (Online) requires completion of 72 credit points, comprising eight compulsory subjects (48 credit points) and four electives (24 credit points). Each core subject is valued at six credit points.

The elective component allows you to extend your knowledge in an existing professional field or explore additional disciplines relevant to your career interests.

Capstone project

Strategic Business Project is a compulsory six-credit-point subject that brings together business knowledge and strategic decision-making through an applied project.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Business Administration (Online), applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:

• Completed Australian graduate certificate or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent, with more than 75% of all subjects completed at pass level (conceded passes not included).
• Completed Australian bachelor's degree, or overseas equivalent, with a minimum GPA of 5.25/7 AND more than 90% of all subjects completed at pass level (conceded passes not included).
• Completed Australian bachelor's degree, or overseas equivalent, with more than 75% of all subjects completed at pass level (conceded passes not included) AND a minimum of four years of relevant full-time professional work experience, or equivalent part-time experience.
• Completed Australian bachelor's degree, or overseas equivalent, with more than 75% of all subjects completed at pass level (conceded passes not included) AND achieved a minimum overall Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score of 550.

For GMAT examinations completed before February 2024, applicants must meet the published requirements of an overall minimum score of 550, verbal reasoning 25, quantitative reasoning 35 and Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) 4.0.

Relevant professional work experience includes roles in management, professional occupations, technical services, community and personal services, clerical and administrative work or sales.

Applicants who do not meet these requirements may consider the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration, subject to its admission requirements.

Supporting documentation to be submitted with the application

Applicants relying on professional work experience must provide a curriculum vitae (CV) AND evidence of employment or professional experience in one of the following formats:

• A Statement of Service provided by the employer.
• A completed UTS Statement of Service signed by the employer.
• A statutory declaration confirming professional work experience (Australian residents only).
• An official letter from the applicant's accountant or solicitor on company letterhead confirming professional experience or engagement with the business, duration of operations and nature of the business.
• A business registration certificate in the original language and English, such as ASIC documentation, an ABN or equivalent documentation for Australian businesses.

English language requirements

The English proficiency requirements for applicants who must provide evidence of English proficiency are:

• IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.5, with a minimum writing score of 6.0.
• TOEFL iBT (0–120 scale): Overall score of 79, with a minimum writing score of 21.
• TOEFL iBT (1–6 scale): Overall score of 4, with a minimum writing score of 4.5.
• UTS College Academic English Level 5 (AE5): Pass.
• Pearson PTE Academic: Overall score of 58, with a minimum writing score of 50.
• Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: Overall score of 176, with a minimum writing score of 169.

The course is currently accepting applications from Australian citizens and permanent residents.

Recognition of prior learning

Students may be eligible for recognition of prior learning based on relevant previous study or professional experience.

• Previous study or professional experience must meet the applicable course requirements.
• Applicants who have completed relevant studies at another institution may be eligible to apply for recognition of prior learning.
• Applications are assessed individually after an offer of enrolment has been accepted.
• Approval of recognition of prior learning is not guaranteed.
