Leading a high-performing team is an essential skill for any new or seasoned manager and effective leadership is critical for any organisation. However, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all strategy to leading a team. You’ve got to be in tune with each individual, the team dynamic and your organisation’s objectives. Developing an agile and adaptive leadership style that promotes effective performance has never been more critical.

Who You Will Learn From
Professor Tyler Okimoto
Deputy Head of School, Business School
Tyler Okimoto is a Professor and Associate Dean (Academic) for the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Queensland. He received his Ph.D. in Organisational Psychology from New York University in 2005 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Psychology at Flinders University in Australia and in the School of Management at Yale University.
Professor Victor Callan AM, PhD
Professor, School of Business
Victor Callan AM is Professor of Leadership and Organisational Change at the University of Queensland Business School. He is one of Australia’s most recognised researchers in organisational change, leadership performance and employee training, bringing extensive academic, government and industry experience to his teaching.
Victor’s research examines the factors that shape successful organisational change, effective leadership and workforce development. His contribution to the field has been recognised through his election as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, the Queensland Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also a Member of the Order of Australia for his significant service to higher education in management as a researcher and adviser to government and industry.
At UQ, Victor has received the University’s Award for Excellence in Higher Degree Research Supervision for the quality of outcomes associated with his PhD supervision, as well as two UQ Excellence in Leadership Awards for his role in building strong research, consulting and industry partnerships.
Victor is a regular contributor to executive education for senior managers and executives in Australia and internationally. He has completed more than 100 advisory projects for Federal, State and local government departments, including major reviews across employee skills, vocational education and training, industry closures and workforce development. His international organisational and workforce development work has also included projects with governments and organisations across South Africa, Ghana, Tanzania, Indonesia, Bhutan, Brunei, New Zealand, PNG and South Pacific countries.
His current teaching at UQ focuses on MBA students and students in the Bachelor of Advanced Business Honours program. In 2025, Victor began his 14th Australian Research Council project as one of four Chief Investigators, in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund for Nature, Mimal Land Council and Indigenous women’s groups across northern Australia.
