Students must complete 32 units comprising:
- Eight units for all MIntEcon&F Foundational Courses
- 20 units for all MIntEcon&F Core Courses
- Two to four units from MIntEcon&F Program Elective Courses
- Zero to two units from General Elective Courses
Each course is valued at two units, unless otherwise indicated.
MIntEcon&F Foundational Courses
Complete eight units for all of the following:
- Foundations in Microeconomics
- Foundations in Macroeconomics
- Mathematical Techniques for Economics
- Statistics for Business and Economics
MIntEcon&F Core Courses
Complete 20 units for all of the following:
- The Macroeconomy
- Consumer and Firm Behaviour
- Economics of Financial Markets
- Elements of Econometrics
- International Macroeconomics and Finance
- International Trade and Investment
- Cost Benefit Analysis and Project Evaluation
- Research Methods in Economics
- Finance
- International Financial Management
Entry requirements
Academic requirements
Two-year degree (32 units of study)
To be eligible to complete the degree in two years full-time (or part-time equivalent), you'll need one of the following:
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline.
- A Graduate Certificate in Economic Studies from UQ.
- A Graduate Diploma in Economics from UQ.
You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.5 on a seven-point scale in your previous qualification.
1.5-year degree (24 units of study)
To be eligible to complete the degree in one and a half years full-time (or part-time equivalent), you'll need one of the following:
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- A Graduate Certificate in Economics from UQ.
You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.5 on a seven-point scale in your previous qualification.
Relevant disciplines for previous qualifications
Relevant disciplines include:
- A bachelor's degree in economics, business or commerce.
- A bachelor's degree containing at least four courses in any of the following three areas: microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics and mathematics.
English language requirements
For international students, you must demonstrate that you meet one of the following English proficiency requirements:
- IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ.
- TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.
- PTE Academic - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.
- BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.
- CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.
OET is not accepted.
