Entry requirements

Academic requirements

To be eligible for entry, you'll need one of the following:

  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, plus three years of full-time equivalent relevant work experience.
  • To have completed post-secondary studies, plus five years of full-time equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Seven years of full-time equivalent relevant work experience.

You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification. Applications on the basis of post-secondary study and/or work experience will be individually assessed.

Relevant disciplines for previous qualifications

Relevant disciplines include a bachelor's degree specialising in at least one of the following areas: biotechnology, business, commerce, commercialisation, computer science, data analytics, economics, energy studies, engineering (business administration), entrepreneurship, environmental management, food sciences, health services/health practitioners, international development or international relations, information systems, innovation, management, science, strategy, sustainability or technology (agricultural, information, nano and bio).

Relevant work experience

Relevant work experience includes work in: biotechnology, business, commerce, commercialisation, computer science, data analytics, economics, energy, engineering (business administration), entrepreneurship, environmental management, food sciences, health services/health practitioners, international development or international relations, information systems, innovation, management, science, strategy, sustainability and technology (agricultural, information, nano and bio).

English language requirements

For international students, you must demonstrate that you meet one of the following English proficiency requirements:

  • IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ.
  • TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.
  • PTE Academic - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.
  • BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.
  • CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.

OET is not accepted.
