Course overview

The Master of Human Resource Management at UNSW is designed for professionals seeking to strengthen their strategic and operational HR capabilities. It explores how people-focused policies and practices can support organisational priorities, workplace performance and changing workforce needs.

Develop your understanding of HR strategy, people management, employment law and contemporary workplace practices. Through your elective choices, you can also build capabilities across workforce analytics, diversity and inclusion, employee wellbeing, organisational development, leadership, talent management and change.

The 12-course program combines four compulsory HR courses with eight electives. You can follow a general pathway or complete one or two formal specialisations in Human Resource Analytics, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion or Leadership and Organisational Development.

Delivered fully online and part time, the program can be completed in two years. The Master of Human Resource Management is accredited by the Australian HR Institute (AHRI). Career directions may include human resource advisory, people and culture, employee experience, employment relations, organisational change and HR leadership roles.

I was able to draw on my work experience and apply real–life examples to strengthen my understanding, which helped me generate practical ideas and proposals for future initiatives.
