Master of Commerce (Extension)
- Delivery: Face to Face
- Study Level: Postgraduate
- Duration: 24 months
- Course Type: Master's
Broaden your commercial expertise and strengthen your ability to analyse complex business challenges, make informed strategic decisions and apply specialist knowledge across diverse organisational contexts.
Course overview
A broader business perspective can be valuable for graduates moving between disciplines, industries or professional functions. The Master of Commerce (Extension) at UNSW is designed for business and non-business graduates seeking specialist expertise alongside greater scope to explore complementary fields.
You will build capabilities in professional practice, ethics and data-informed decision-making before focusing on one or two business specialisations. Options range from accounting, finance, marketing and human resource management to artificial intelligence, FinTech, cybersecurity, digital transformation, risk and sustainability.
Compared with the standard Master of Commerce, the extended degree provides considerably more elective space, allowing students to broaden their studies within UNSW Business School or incorporate approved courses from other faculties. A final capstone or practicum supports applied learning, while Career Accelerator provides access to internships, mentoring, professional development and global business project opportunities. Selected pathways may also align with relevant professional bodies.
Studied through face-to-face and blended learning at UNSW’s Kensington campus, the degree typically takes two years full-time, with part-time study available. Career directions depend on the chosen specialisation combination and prior professional experience.
