What you will study
To complete the Master of Commerce, students must complete 12 courses in the program, totalling 72 units of credit (UOC), comprised of specialisations and electives. The program includes:
- Core units on professional skills, ethics, data literacy and data communication.
- Courses in one or two chosen specialisations.
- Business or free electives (if only one specialisation is chosen).
- A Coding for Business course.
- A capstone or practicum.

Entry requirements
Academic requirements
The degree’s admission requirements are based on you having a recognised undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) with a credit average (WAM 65 per cent or higher), as determined by the UNSW Business School. You may be considered eligible if your undergraduate degree WAM is between 60-64 per cent and your score for the GMAT is at least 600 for the GMAT Exam or at least 565 for the GMAT Focus Edition.
English language requirements
You may be asked to provide evidence of your English proficiency to study at UNSW depending on your educational background and citizenship. English language skills are vitally important for coping with lectures, tutorials, assignments and examinations.
If you’re completing an Australian Year 12 qualification (e.g. NSW HSC or equivalent), you do not need to provide anything extra to prove your proficiency. Your qualification will be used as evidence of your English proficiency.
If you do need to provide evidence of your English proficiency, this will be indicated in your application. You can prove this by providing evidence that you meet one or more of the following criteria:
- English language tests and university English courses.
- Prior study in the medium of English.
- Other qualifications.
Recognition of Prior Learning
If you’ve studied an undergraduate degree that relates to the areas of business you’d like to study, you could be eligible for up to 24 UOC, or four courses of RPL. These credit points will allow you to take fewer subjects and graduate sooner. Contact the university for more information.

Indicative first-year full fee in 2025: $40,000 (domestic full-fee paying place)

The amount you pay will vary depending on the calendar year of enrolment, the courses you select and whether your study load is more or less than one Equivalent Full Time Student Load (48 UOC per year).
A student’s annual fee may vary in accordance with:

- Credit from previous study or work experience.
- Eligibility for government-funded loans.
