Course overview

The Graduate Certificate in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at UNSW is designed for current and aspiring HR professionals, emerging leaders and workplace advocates seeking to foster inclusive cultures and contribute to meaningful organisational change.

You’ll examine how diversity, equity and inclusion intersect with employee wellbeing, engagement and sustainable human resource practice. The program develops foundational capability to assess workplace challenges, contribute to DEI strategies and consider initiatives at individual, managerial and organisational levels.

Alongside the specialised DEI curriculum, an elective enables further exploration of human resource management, analytics, leadership, organisational development or another approved professional interest. This flexibility allows the learning experience to reflect individual career priorities while retaining a clear focus on inclusive and sustainable workplace practice.

Delivered online through seven-week study blocks, the qualification can be completed part-time in approximately eight months, with one course studied at a time. It may support DEI, employee engagement, workplace wellbeing and inclusion-related responsibilities within HR or broader organisational roles. Graduates who meet the required academic standard may also progress into the Master of Human Resource Management and its specialisations.

The course provided a thorough exploration of crucial topics related to employee wellbeing and engagement, such as the extended JD–R model, SMART work design, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). This comprehensive approach gave a well–rounded understanding of how to enhance workplace wellbeing and foster engagement. The course emphasised the practical application of theories and models, enabling students to directly relate the concepts to real–world scenarios. This focus on actionable strategies made the learning experience more relevant and impactful.
