What you will study
To earn the Online Master of Business Administration, you must complete a total of 192 credit points as follows:
- Four Core subjects (48 credit points)
- One MBA Research Core subject (12 credit points)
- One Capstone subject (12 credit points)
- 120 credit points from one of the following possible combinations:
- Combination 1: Complete Two MBA Minors and 24 credit points of University Electives
- Combination 2: Complete One MBA Minor and 48 credit points of MBA Option Subjects and 24 credit points of University Electives
- Combination 3: Complete 96 credit points in MBA Option Subjects and 24 credit points of University Electives
Unless otherwise indicated, each course is valued at 12 credit points (CP).
Complete the following five subjects or courses:
- Design Thinking for Business
- Leadership and Management
- Marketing for Managers
- Financial Analytics for Managerial Decisions
- Strategy
AND
Complete 36 credit points from your selected combination.
Entry requirements
12-course Master of Business Administration
Applicants must have at least one of the following:
- An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, in a business or related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 1.0 (out of 4.0).
- An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification in a business or related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution and a GMAT overall minimum score of 550.
- An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, from a recognised tertiary institution in any discipline with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 1.0 (out of 4.0)* plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
- RMIT's Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.
If you do not meet the entry requirements for the 12-course master's, you may have the opportunity to enrol in a 16-course master's.
16-course Master of Business Administration
Applicants must have at least one of the following:
- An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 1.0 (out of 4.0).
- An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution and a GMAT overall minimum score of 550
Suppose your qualification was completed more than 10 years ago. In that case, you will need to provide evidence of ongoing professional work and/or professional development in the same discipline as the program for which you are seeking entry to be granted advanced standing.
Recognition of Prior Learning
RMIT offers Recognition of Prior Learning, or the recognition of previous study or learning. This means you can apply for credit and reduce the number of courses you need to complete. Your application will be decided on a case-by-case basis. RMIT aims to grant as much credit as possible at the time of offer, so it’s important to provide as much evidence of prior study or work experience as possible with your application. Speak to RMIT's Enrolment Advisors to find out more.
Applicants with relevant work experience in management and leadership may also be eligible for a further reduced duration in the form of RPL of up to 48 credit points at the time of offer (equivalent to one semester full-time study).
This may enable you to complete your program in one year or less.
Credit and exemptions will be assessed in a manner consistent with the principles of the RMIT Credit Policy.

Indicative tuition fee per course in 2025: $4,800 (domestic full-fee paying place)
Indicative annual tuition fee in 2025: $38,400 (domestic full-fee paying place)
Estimated tuition fee for 12 courses in 2025: $57,600 (domestic full-fee paying place)
Indicative tuition fee for 16 courses in 2025: $76,800 (domestic full-fee paying place)
Additional expenses:
- Student services and amenities fee (SSAF): $365 maximum fee for 2025.
