Course overview

By studying the Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics through QUT Online, you will enhance your understanding of data analytics and the fundamental role data analysts play in providing the rationale for an organisation’s ongoing evolution.

You will develop data mining and modelling skills that allow you to perform sophisticated analyses of data to inform evidence-based decision-making. With a firm understanding of statistical analysis, you will learn how to produce insightful data visualisations and in doing so communicate analytical solutions that comprehensively address organisational issues.

What you will study

Students are required to complete 48 credit points from:

  • 12 credit points of one core standard unit.
  • 36 credit points of four micro units and/or three elective standard units.

Unless otherwise indicated, each unit is worth 12 credit points (CP).

Entry requirements

You can gain entry into the Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics with the following:

  • A completed bachelor's degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline; OR
  • A completed diploma (or higher qualification) in any discipline and two years of full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience as an analyst and/or in the information technology field; OR
  • Five years of full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience as an analyst and/or in the information technology field.

Career outcomes

You will produce evidence-based visualisations of data to inform leadership decisions and organisational initiatives. You will also demonstrate advanced ICT strategies to analyse business practices and system functionality to optimise business performance. The analytical skills you develop will help you evaluate business practices and investment strategies to solve complex problems in business improvement projects.

Fees and CSP

Commonwealth Supported Places

When you enrol in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), the Australian Government covers a significant portion of your course fees, which you do not need to repay, saving you thousands of dollars.

You pay the remaining amount, known as the Student Contribution, which you can finance through a HECS-HELP loan.

A limited number of CSPs are available for this qualification.

  • Calculated per unit you're enrolled in.
  • Dependent on the study areas they relate to.
  • Reviewed and adjusted each year.
