Course overview
This graduate diploma is perfect if you are new to the field, as you will be introduced to economics and econometrics at advanced undergraduate and graduate level. If you have relevant academic qualifications, you may be able to complete the course in just six months.
You will gain insights in data visualisation and data analysis, cost benefit analysis and economic decision making, as well as the application of microeconomics and industry economics, econometrics and business forecasting. You will also be able to take part in in-class coding labs.
As part of this course you will be studying master’s level units, which will count towards a Master’s should you want to expand your knowledge further in the future.

What you will study
To complete the Graduate Diploma of Economic Analytics, you must complete eight units (48 credit points). It consists of Part A. Advance preparatory four units (24 credit points) and Part B. Mastery Knowledge four units (24 credit points).
Part A. Advance preparatory (six credit points each)
- Macroeconomic policy
- Managerial economics
- Introductory applied econometrics
- Mathematics for busines
Part B. Mastery Knowledge (six credit points each)
You must complete one of the following units and 18 credit points from the Economics and Econometrics units below:
- Data visualisation and analytics
- Introduction to data analysis
Economics units (six credit points each)
You must complete 12 credit points from the following units:
- Industry economics
- Applied microeconomics
- Applied macroeconomics
- Cost-benefit analysis and economic decision-making
- Design and evaluation of economic, public, and social programs
- Empirical strategies for policy evaluation
Econometrics unit (six credit points each)
You must complete one of the following units:
- Applied econometrics
- Business forecasting
- Applied econometrics
Entry requirements
Entry level 1: Duration: One year full-time, two years part-time (48 credit points to complete)
An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent), with at least a credit 60% average or equivalent GPA and have passed a first year undergraduate statistics or mathematical unit (or equivalent). Applicants will be ranked and selected based on their entire academic record.
Entry level 2: Duration: 0.5 years full time, one year part-time (24 credit points to complete)
An applicant must have one of the following:
- An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in a cognate discipline* with at least a high credit (65%) average or equivalent qualification and experience approved by the faculty.
- An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) and an Australian graduate certificate (or equivalent qualification) in a cognate discipline* with at least a high credit (65%) average in both qualifications or equivalent qualification and experience approved by the faculty.
- A four-year Australian bachelor honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in a cognate discipline* with at least a high credit (65%) average or equivalent qualification and experience approved by the faculty.
*Cognate disciplines include Business, Commerce, Economics, Econometrics, Management, Mathematics, and Statistics.
English language requirements

Fees and FEE-HELP
Average 2025 first-year fee: $37,100 (domestic full-fee paying place)
All costs are calculated using current rates and are based on a study load of 24 credit points (normally four units) per semester or 48 credit points (normally eight units) per year.
A student’s annual fee may vary in accordance with:
- The number of units studied per term.
- The choice of major or specialisation.
- Choice of units.
- Credit from previous study or work experience.
- Eligibility for government-funded loans.
