What you will study
To earn the Master of Banking and Finance, you must successfully complete units totalling 160 credit points, as detailed below. Unless otherwise noted, each course is worth 10 credit points.

Elective units
Complete an additional 40 credit points from postgraduate units for which you meet the prerequisites.
You may use these credit points to complete an eligible second specialisation in Applied Economics, Finance, Financial Management, FinTech, International Business or Sustainable Finance. Availability and entry requirements may apply.
Alternative entry pathways
Depending on your previous qualifications, academic performance and professional experience, you may be admitted to a shorter course pathway:
- 1.5-year, 120-credit-point pathway: Complete 40 credit points of core units, one 40-credit-point specialisation and 40 credit points of elective units.
- Alternative 1.5-year, 120-credit-point pathway: Complete 40 credit points of foundation units, 40 credit points of core units and one 40-credit-point specialisation.
- One-year, 80-credit-point pathway: Complete 40 credit points of core units and one 40-credit-point specialisation.

One year full-time (or equivalent part-time)
To be eligible for this pathway, applicants must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
1.5 years full-time (or equivalent part-time) Core and Flexible pathway
To be eligible for this pathway, applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and have at least two years of relevant full-time professional experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning.
1.5 years full-time (or equivalent part-time) Foundation and Core pathway
To be eligible for this pathway, applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a Weighted Average Mark of at least 65.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a Weighted Average Mark of at least 60 and a Graduate Management Admission Test score of at least 600.
One year full-time (or equivalent part-time)
To be eligible for this pathway, applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Hold a bachelor honours degree or graduate diploma in a related field, or an equivalent qualification.
- Meet at least two of the following three criteria:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
- Have at least two years of relevant full-time professional experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a Weighted Average Mark of at least 65, or a Weighted Average Mark of at least 60 together with a Graduate Management Admission Test score of at least 600.
Related fields include accounting, actuarial studies, banking, economics, finance, insurance and valuation.
Relevant professional experience may include technical, specialist, managerial or decision-making roles requiring knowledge of finance, banking, actuarial studies, accounting or economics.

English language requirements
Applicants must provide evidence of at least one of the following:
- A bachelor’s degree completed in a recognised English-speaking country.
