What you will study

To qualify for the award of Master of Extended Professional Accounting, students must complete a total of 240 credit points (CP) across two years. Each subject is valued at 15 CP, unless otherwise indicated.

Year One

  • 120 credit points from chosen core subjects

Year Two

  • 15 CP from chosen capstone subject
  • 30 CP from chosen core subjects
  • 15 CP from chosen core choice subjects
  • 60 CP from chosen specialisation

Entry requirements

Academic requirements

An applicant must have a successful completion of an Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent).

Selection criteria

Applicants with other relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial relevant professional of managerial experience will also be considered for entry.

The duration of the course may be reduced to one-year equivalent full time (eight subjects) with appropriate credit exemptions.

Admission is based on having one of the following:

  • A bachelor honours (AQF8) degree in a related discipline.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a related discipline, plus two years of relevant work experience.
  • A graduate certificate, graduate diploma or higher in a related discipline.
  • An evidence of academic capability judged to be equivalent.

Note: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.

English language requirements

International students should have a score of 6.5 IELTS (Academic) with no individual band less than 6.0. Contact the university to find further information about English language requirements.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Credit for previous study is the recognition of prior study or learning that can be counted towards a qualification. This can reduce the number of subjects required to complete your course. All costs are calculated using current rates and are based on a full-time study load of 120 CP for one year.
