Data science is an interdisciplinary field that combines mathematics, statistics and computer science to analyse structured and unstructured data, using a range of methods, processes and technologies to generate insights and support decision-making.
This course builds foundational knowledge across mathematics, statistics and computer science while introducing key tools and techniques used in data science. It also examines ethical considerations related to the collection, storage, analysis and use of data. Data science continues to be a growing field across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Academic admission requirements (Band six)
Academic admission requirements (Band 6) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience.
English language requirements (Band four)
English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
- IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
- Bachelor's degree from a country specified on the English Proficiency Bands page.
- Completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at the postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent).
- Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience.
- Other tests, courses or programs as defined on the English Proficiency Bands page.
