Course overview

In the gig economy of the 21st century, ‘management by projects’ is becoming the norm. The Graduate Diploma in Project Management features four distinct study themes including strategy, sustainability, managing complex problems and teams, and virtual teams and global working.

What you will study

You are required to complete 80 credit points (CP), 60 of which are required subjects and 20 of which are general electives from across the university.

Required subjects

Students must complete the following 60 CP of subjects.

  • Expert Witness and Dispute Resolution (10 CP)
  • Risk Management (10 CP)
  • Principles of Project Management (10 CP)
  • Project Finance and Procurement (10 CP)
  • Project Portfolio and Program Management (10 CP)
  • Project Resource Planning (10 CP)

General electives

Students must choose 20 CP of postgraduate subjects from across the university that are available as general electives.

Entry requirements

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in any field is required for entry to this course. 

This course is not available to graduates of Bond's Bachelor of Project Management. Students may consider the Master of Project Innovation as an alternative.

You may use prior work experience to apply for entry into this program. To do so, you will need to provide documentation of your employment history, including a statement from your employer about your position, time in the role and a brief overview of the role you performed.

Recognition of Prior Learning

If you have completed previous tertiary studies, you may be able to gain credit for previous subjects. To apply, you will need to submit your academic transcripts to the Office of Future Students, including detailed subject outlines or course descriptions for each relevant subject.

Graduates will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the knowledge base underpinning the project management discipline, as represented by PMBOK.
  • Advise on effective implementation strategies to ensure value for money for the client/sponsor and meet agreed-upon key performance indicators for project success.
  • Understand the qualities and characteristics that make an effective project team leader, communicator and manager of people and resources.
  • Make sound decisions in the context of uncertainty through the identification, quantitative analysis and acceptance, mitigation or transfer of project risk.
  • Understand the procedures of administering a portfolio of projects or programs to ensure value is maximised and outcomes are feasible and aligned to organisational goals.
  • Understand the legal ramifications of project conflict and apply techniques to avoid, minimise or resolve disputes, including giving evidence at formal proceedings.
  • Be able to apply project management knowledge to a particular discipline domain or area of interest and broaden educational outcomes through a suitable elective choice.

Indicative total program fee in 2025: $46,000 (domestic full-fee paying place)

Indicative semester program fee in 2025: $23,000 (domestic full-fee paying place)

A student’s annual fee may vary in accordance with:

  • Credit from previous study or work experience.
  • Eligibility for government-funded loans.
