What you will study

The Master of Applied Accounting and Master of Financial Management requires completion of 96 units which must consist of:

Entry requirements

To be eligible for admission to the course, applicants must present either:

  • A bachelor's degree or international equivalent in a cognate discipline with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0.
  • A graduate certificate or international equivalent in a cognate discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.0/7.0.
  • A graduate diploma or international equivalent in a cognate discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.0/7.0.

Academic achievement and English language proficiency

The minimum academic requirement for full entry and enrolment is a bachelor's degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0.

If required, ranking may further be confirmed based on one of the following:

  • For admission purposes, a GPA ('GPA2') calculated on the penultimate and antepenultimate semesters (or equivalent) of the bachelor's degree is used.
  • Demonstrating higher-level English language proficiency.

Before enrolment in this ANU program, all students who gain entry will have their bachelor's degree reassessed to confirm that they have met the minimum requirements.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of essential accounting, accountability and governance knowledge in an organisational context.
  • Critically apply essential knowledge in the discipline to accounting and business decision making.
  • Analyse and evaluate contemporary accounting, accountability and governance issues informed by accounting-related research, industry practices and professional guidance.
  • Integrate advanced accounting knowledge and analytical skills in undertaking applied research in the discipline;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the three ideas underpinning finance: the time value of money, diversification; and arbitrage.
  • Critically apply these three ideas to corporate financial decision-making and investment decisions, including within an international setting.
  • Demonstrate a critical awareness of current issues in finance which is informed by leading edge research and practices in the field.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyse and interrogate financial information to support business recommendations.
